merzouga

We depart from Fes at 8:00 a.m. because we don’t want you to miss that sunset in Merzouga! We’ll make some stops along the way. First at the picturesque town of Ifrane (the Switzerland of Morocco). Your chance to have a nice hot cup of coffee and see the Barbary macaque monkeys. Back on the road, we’ll move on to Midelt. Here we will stop for a quick lunch. Next we travel through the beautiful Ziz Valley with its spectacular views. We’ll have time to stop for some quick photos, then finally… Welcome to the stunning village of Merzouga! It’s hard to imagine, but 10,000 years ago, this was once a tropical jungle, and at one point, a stop for merchants heading to and from Timbuktu. Fast forward to today, and you are transported to one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The clearest skies for the most impressive stargazing in the world. Don’t worry about your suitcases, just hop on that camel and head to your camp for the evening, and witness that beautiful sunset on your way there! This evening you will be served a traditional dinner and entertained by your local hosts with traditional music by the campfire. Tomorrow, you can go on a camel trek, rent a dune buggy and have a crazy adventure, or you can relax at the campsite and get to know your local hosts better. Speaking of, besides the natural beauty surrounding you, the people of this area (the Amazigh) are incredibly kind and lovely. You don’t want to miss this experience!
